Delete your account

Applies to the DoorYard app for iPhone and Android, and to dooryardapp.com

You can delete your DoorYard account and its associated data yourself, from inside the app. You don't need to email us, you don't need to explain why, and there's no waiting period.

Delete it from inside the app

  1. Open DoorYard and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Confirm. That's it — the account is deleted and you're signed out.

If you can't sign in — you lost access to the email address on the account, or you've already removed the app — email privacy@dooryardapp.com from the address on the account if you can, and we'll delete it for you. We verify the request before acting on it, and we complete verified requests within 30 days.

What gets deleted

  • Your name, email address and phone number.
  • The properties you added, including their addresses.
  • Your notification preferences and channel settings.
  • Your message threads.
  • Your device tokens — notifications stop immediately.
  • If you ran a business on DoorYard: your business profile, coverage areas and offerings. If you were the owner of a business with other members, transfer ownership first so your team isn't left without an owner.

What is kept, and why

A small amount of information survives deletion in a form that is no longer tied to you:

  • Anonymized service records — that a job of a certain type was booked and completed in a neighborhood on a date. This keeps our operational history and a business's record accurate, and it can no longer be connected back to you.
  • Financial and tax records of transactions that took place, which we're required to retain.
  • Consent and opt-out records — the fact that a number opted out of messaging is retained specifically so that it stays opted out, and so we can demonstrate compliance with messaging regulations.

These retained records don't identify you. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

A few things to know first

  • Deletion is permanent. We can't restore a deleted account, and signing up again starts fresh.
  • Cancel any subscription first. If you subscribe to a paid plan, cancel it before deleting so you aren't billed for another period.
  • Settle any outstanding balance. If you run a service business with a balance owing, that's still due.
  • Finish or cancel upcoming bookings. Deleting your account doesn't notify the business that a scheduled job is off — please cancel it in the app first so nobody drives out to an empty appointment.

Just want the notifications to stop?

You don't have to delete anything for that. Every service category is individually revocable in your notification settings, and replying STOP to any DoorYard text ends texts to that number. See Support for the details.
