Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026 · DoorYard LLC, Detroit, Michigan
DoorYard connects households with independent local service crews working nearby. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and the controls you have. It is written to be read, not to be survived — if anything here is unclear, write to privacy@dooryardapp.com and we'll explain it.
The short version.
Your address is used to place your home in its neighborhood, and is released to a service crew only after you book that crew. Every service category you hear about is opt-in and individually revocable. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share mobile opt-in data with third parties for marketing.

1. Information we collect
We collect only what the service needs to work.
- Account information — your name, email address, and your mobile number if you choose to verify one.
- Property information — the address of each property you add, and how you describe it (for example: you live there, you rent it out, or you manage it for someone else).
- Preferences and consent — which service categories you want to hear about, which channels you chose, and a record of when and how you gave or withdrew each consent.
- Service activity — offers you received, accepted or declined; bookings; completed work; photos a crew uploads as proof of service; ratings you give; and messages you exchange with a crew you have booking history with.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor. Card numbers are never stored on DoorYard's systems.
- Business information, if you operate a service business on DoorYard — your business details, service categories, coverage area, team members, and proof of insurance you upload for verification.
- Technical and diagnostic data — device and app version, and error reports, so we can fix crashes and abuse.
2. How we use it
- To place your home in its neighborhood, so nearby crews can send priced offers for the categories you opted into.
- To deliver those notifications on the channels you chose, within permitted hours.
- To operate bookings, service records, proof-of-service photos and ratings.
- To process plan payments and fees on booked work.
- To keep the marketplace safe and honest — verifying insurance, reviewing disputes, preventing fraud and abuse, and enforcing our Terms.
- To answer you when you contact support.
- To understand, in aggregate, how well the product works — for example how often offers into a neighborhood result in booked jobs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles or share it with advertisers.
3. Text messages and push notifications
If you opt in to text messages, we use your verified mobile number solely to send the DoorYard messages you agreed to receive. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except as required to deliver the messages (our SMS service provider) or by law. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP or using the controls in the app.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or contact support@dooryardapp.com. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchasing anything or of using DoorYard.
Quiet hours. Notifications are only sent between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm in the local time of the property they concern. This applies to push notifications and text messages alike.
Push notifications are delivered through Apple and Google's notification services, which requires sending them a device token and the message content in order to reach your device.
4. Location and property information
DoorYard is a neighborhood product, so a property address is central to how it works. We convert the address you enter into a location and assign it to a neighborhood. Offers are targeted at neighborhoods and coverage areas — a crew composing an offer does not see which households will receive it, and does not see your address.
Your address is released to a service crew at the point you accept their offer, because from that moment they need to travel to it. It is not released by an offer being sent, by a message, or by a crew searching.
We also use publicly available and licensed reference data about places — such as parcel boundaries and public statistical data — to understand neighborhoods and estimate the size of a job. This is information about property and areas, not about you personally.
5. When information is shared
We share personal information only in these situations:
- With a service crew you booked — your name, the service address, and what you booked, so they can do the work.
- With people you authorize — for example a family member, caregiver or property manager you grant access to a property.
- With service providers who operate DoorYard on our behalf — hosting, databases, email delivery, SMS delivery, push notification delivery, payment processing, mapping and geocoding, and error monitoring. They may use the information only to provide that service to us.
- When the law requires it — to comply with a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of users, the public, or DoorYard.
- In a business transfer — if DoorYard is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Your choices and controls
- Per-category opt-in. You only hear about service categories you explicitly turned on. Each one can be turned off on its own, at any time, from inside the app. It applies to the next send — not eventually.
- Channel choice. You choose whether offers arrive by push notification, text message, or both.
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any DoorYard message to stop texts to that number.
- Push notifications. Can also be turned off in your device settings.
- Access and correction. Your account information, properties and consent history are visible in the app and you can edit them. For anything you can't reach, email privacy@dooryardapp.com.
7. Deleting your account
You can delete your DoorYard account from inside the app, without contacting us and without a waiting period. When you do, identifying information is removed; anonymized operational records — such as the fact that a job in a neighborhood was completed — are retained so our service records and financial history stay accurate.
Full instructions, including how to request deletion if you can no longer sign in, are on our account deletion page.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only where we have to: to complete a transaction, to keep required financial and tax records, to resolve a dispute, or to comply with the law. Records of consent — when you opted in or out, and how — are retained as long as required to demonstrate compliance with messaging regulations, because that record protects you as much as us.
9. How we protect it
Addresses and contact details are encrypted, access to them is logged, and access is limited to the parties who actually need it for a booking. Personal information is deliberately kept out of our internal operational event logs. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that the sensitive parts have the fewest possible ways to be reached.
10. Children
DoorYard is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact privacy@dooryardapp.com and we will delete it.
11. State privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a portable copy, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
To make a request, email privacy@dooryardapp.com. We will verify the request against your account before acting on it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for material changes we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Changes are never applied retroactively to consents you already gave — if a change would broaden how we contact you, we ask again.
